I've just befriended a man who has and American citizenship, but he came here from Mexico, some 15 years ago. I know him for about 3 months now, and we're thinking about getting married. This would be my second marriage, but I don't know about my future husband's marital status.
He says that he was never married in the States, and he left Mexico when he was 19 y.o. He has no family here in Dallas, although quite large group of friends. because of the language barrier, I can't really communicate with them, although I really would like, hoping that they tell me more about this person.
Because I love him, and want to plan our future together, I need to be certain that there were no other women that he was, or is married to. That would put my mind to the rest.
So, the question is, can I get divorce and marriage records out of Mexico, without actually engaging a Mexican lawyer? Can their embassy help? Where do I start?
